  • Description

Blue Learning for Future Generations is a short, flexible online course designed to help educators of 12–14-year-olds bring blue literacy into their teaching — not just oceans, but rivers, lakes, wetlands, and all water systems that connect us.

You’ll explore how to use outdoor learning, problem-based inquiry, and open schooling to create meaningful learning experiences that connect your students with real water-related challenges in their local environment.

This course is grounded in the UNESCO Ocean Literacy Principles, and expands them to include all aquatic systems. It’s fully aligned with European frameworks such as BlueComp, GreenComp, DigComp 2.2, and LifeComp, as well as international sustainability goals like the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the EU Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters.

Through reflection prompts, examples, citizen science activities, and downloadable planning tools, you’ll be supported in creating your own Blue Literacy Action Plan — something that works for your school, your students, and your teaching context.

No tests. No grades. Just practical inspiration to get you started.
